Part 4: Authentic Love

Spirit of Truth VS spirit of falsehood:

1. Truth pivots on the incarnation, Jesus came in the flesh. Deception denies this. 1 John 4:2-3
2. Truth has the Spirit witnessing in us, falsehood speaks from the viewpoint of the world, not the Word. 1 John 4:5-6

Authentic love revealed:
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world. 1 John 1:9a NLT (John 1:1, 14; 3:16)

What the gift of authentic love through Jesus gives:

1. We have Eternal Life; death is defeated. 1 Jn 4:9b
2. We have our sins taken away; guilt is removed. 1 Jn 4:10
3. We have connection with God; we are family. 1 Jn 4:13-16, John 1:12
4. We have the basis for healthy relationships of authentic love. 1 John 4:11, 19, Eph. 4:32, Col. 3:13
5. We have confidence; insecurity is overcome. 1 John 4:17
6. We are protected from fear, no basis for punishment. 1 John 4:18
