Part 8: Pay It Forward

Message

The importance of training our children:

  • Our training should be a continual part of our daily life. Deuteronomy 6:6-7
  • If we are careful to lay down a track for our children to run on, then it is much more likely they will run on that track when they are grown. Prov. 22:6
  • The two rails of the tracks are discipline and instruction, employed in love: Eph. 6:4

The natural path without training: Judges 2:10-14

  • They forget God and all practical application. Deut. 4:9
  • They just mirror and copy the culture around them. Judges 2:12
  • They worship false gods and philosophies. John 14:6
  • They are weakened, confused, and enslaved. Judges 2:14; 1 Corinthians 14:33

Train your children about the 4 Buckets of managing money: Suggested 10-20-30-40 plan: Money Savvy Pig < Binders

  1. GIVE: 10% of everything they get goes first to God and His church. Prov. 3:9-10
    1. Teach them about how you give and let them see it.
    2. Make sure they set aside the first 10% of every dollar that ever comes into their hands.
    3. Make sure they understand that this is their best investment with the best return. Mt. 6:19, 1 Timothy 6:19
    4. Teach thankfulness and contentment through giving. 2 Cor. 9:12, 1 Cor. 4:7
  2. INVEST: 20% of everything they get is set aside for investing. Ecclesiastes 11:2
  3. SAVE: 30% of every dollar is put into savings. Prov. 21:20
  4. SPEND: 40% of every dollar they get is for them to enjoy and spend. 1 Tim. 6:17
