Part 3: Hearing the Produces Faith

Message

  1. Hearing that endures (Luke 8:4–15)
    1. Expect testing—and remain. Soil 2
    2. Expect the anxieties, riches and pleasures of this life—and remain. Soil 3
    3. The right soil (heart). Soil 4
      1. Holds on tight—not loosely or casually, sincerely.
      2. Honest and good heart—humbly and dependently.
      3. Holds on a LONG time—patient.
  2. Hear carefully (8:16–18)
    1. Keep asking, seeking, knocking to understand the “secrets of the kingdom.” Luke 10:21-22, 11:5-13
    2. The paradox of hearing:
      1. Those who pursue what they think they want apart from Jesus will only increase loss and disappointment.
      2. Those who receive Jesus—even while surrendering lesser things—will increase in true abundance. (John 10:10)
  3. Hear and do (8:19–21)
    1. Obedience defines true relationship with Jesus. (8:19–20)
    2. Obedience proves true hearing. (8:21)
  4. Hearing tested in life (8:22–26)
    1. Jesus spoke the promise: “We are going to the other side.” His word should have settled the matter. (8:22–24)
    2. The storm revealed their faith: their circumstances spoke louder than His word. (8:25–26)
