Part 2: The Source of Wisdom

“Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are THE KEY TO LIFE.” Prov. 4:13 NLT
 

1. Clues to the source of wisdom:
   
   1. I was there when he established the heavens, when he drew the horizon on the oceans. I was the architect at his side. I was his constant delight, rejoicing always in his presence. Prov. 8:27, 30 (NLT)
   2. Those who find me find life . . .all who hate me love death. Prov. 8:35-36 port.
2. Two kinds of wisdom:
   1. Worldly wisdom: 1 Corinthians 1:20
      1. Philosophers
      2. Scholars
      3. Brilliant debaters
   2. God’s Wisdom:
      1. Message of the cross 1 Cor. 1:18
      2. Christ: the power and wisdom of God 1 Cor. 1:24
   3. The difference: Only God’s wisdom can:
      1. save those who believe 1 Cor. 1:18, 21
      2. give righteousness. (Justification) 1 Cor. 1:30a
      3. give holiness. (Sanctification) 1 Cor. 1:30b
      4. give redemption. (Glorification) 1 Cor. 1:30c
      5. restore access to the Tree of Life, giving eternal life and immortality. John 3:14-18 (Prov 3:18)
3. APPLICATION: 
   1. Believe on and follow Jesus, and have abundant life . . . forever. Colossians 2:3, John 10:10
   2. Pursue all other “wisdom” without Jesus, and ultimately lose everything.
